The Oregon Festival of American Music comes to Eugene this August, an annual event that will have you tapping your foot and singing along to some of the top hits of the 1940s. The event will showcase tunes that hit the top of the charts during the 1940s and is themed, ‘On A Wing And A Prayer' after one of the music sets released on V-Disc during that time.
The song selection includes several war tunes and leading songs from the Army Hit Kit. The collection features a variety of military, sacred, patriotic, folk and classical music that were played at army service clubs, camps, movie theaters and other venues.
The festival takes place on Wednesday, August 10, 2016, from 1:30 p.m. to 3 p.m. at Jaqua Concert Hall at The Shedd Institute. The Shedd Institute, otherwise known as The John G. Shedd Institute, is a leading performing arts and cultural arts center in the heart of downtown Eugene. It's located within minutes of several cafes and restaurants on the corner of Broadway and High Street.
Enjoy a meal after the show nearby and look forward to relaxing in your spacious suite at the Comfort Suites Eugene that weekend. The hotel is less than a 10-minute drive from the concert hall and features spacious suites designed with wireless or high-speed Internet access and modern lifestyle amenities.
